Panic Alert is a community safety app for South Africa. Press PANIC, MEDICAL or HOME three times within three seconds and the contacts you chose (up to 10) hear a loud alarm on their phones and see your live location. The first person to respond is connected to you by phone, and the alarm stops for everyone else.
- PANIC: a loud alarm and your live location go to your chosen contacts.
- MEDICAL: also alerts your community's own paramedic, who assesses the situation and calls emergency services if needed.
- HOME: a quiet "home safe" message to the contacts you tick.
- Groups by code, silent confirm, mute for an hour, live location while an alert is active.
Panic Alert is not connected to any emergency or medical service and does not replace them. In an emergency also call 10111 (police), 10177 (ambulance) or 112. Alerts depend on phone reception, battery and settings and can be delayed or fail.
Receiving and confirming alerts is free. Sending alerts: R45.00 per month or R390.00 per year (save R150 a year), with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers.
